Metro State Denver

I've worked with MSU Denver for many years across a variety of digital touchpoints. Their main site and news platform, RED, are public-facing, while Early Bird and the Faculty & Staff Hub serve internal audiences. Each design uses the Metro State brand in a way that gives every site its own visual identity while still feeling connected to the larger brand family.

The Metro State University of Denver main site was my first project with their team. The site struggled to engage students and parents due to uninspiring design and poor navigation. After auditing user behavior, we developed a robust navigation strategy that organized college departments clearly and used progressive disclosure to reduce cognitive load. I updated the MSUD brand with a strong focus on community, leveraging their vast image archive to help prospective students envision themselves at MSUD.

RED was my second design engagement with Metro State University of Denver. The team was looking to update their external-facing newspaper to align with their new main site while also further legitimizing their journalism and research practice. Again, their navigation system needed to be better streamlined. We arranged the site and navigation to be more in line with a formal news site instead of a university blog. We added filtering to ensure smoother discovery for users and developed a space to "find an expert," highlighting not only published works but also encouraging the reach and development of new stories.

My most recent work with Metro State University of Denver involved separating their internal blog and resource hub into their own sites. The Early Bird and Faculty & Staff Hub were built in tandem under a cohesive sub-brand of the main MSUD site. This allowed both their blog and resources to focus on faculty as their primary audience and customize those experiences through more advanced search and filtering.
